How To Report Safety Concerns

Calvert County Public Schools’ (CCPS) students, staff, and teachers have shown incredible enthusiasm and dedication, making the beginning of this academic year truly special. We also recognize that last week, two of our fellow school communities were struck by tragedy with school shootings at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia and Joppatowne High School in Harford County, Maryland. During these challenging times, it is essential to remember that we are here for each other. These tragic events have left many in our community feeling anxious and fearful. Our hearts go out to all those affected by these senseless acts of violence.

CCPS is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students and staff. We want to remind everyone that our dedicated team of school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists, pupil personnel workers (PPWs), safety advocates, and School Resource Officers (SROs) are available to offer support and assistance. Whether you need someone to talk to, resources for coping, or help navigating these difficult emotions, our student services team is here to help.

Let’s continue to support one another and work together to create a positive and nurturing school community. School safety is a community-wide effort. Dr. Townsel, CCPS Superintendent and Ricky Cox, Calvert County Sheriff are committed to safety in our schools.
